About the Alberta Summer Games

The Alberta Summer Games (ASG) are a premier provincial multi-sport event that brings together Alberta’s top U15 athletes to celebrate excellence in sport, teamwork, and community. Zone 8 for the Alberta Summer Games is represented by the Peace Country, and covers the northwestern part of the province. Key cities, towns, and communities included in Zone 8 for the Alberta Summer Games include: Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, Fairview, High Prairie, Slave Lake, Whitecourt, Valleyview, Spirit River, Bezanson, Sexsmith and surrounding communities.

Athlete Eligibility

Athletes wishing to try out must meet the following criteria:

  • Born in 2012 or 2013. (U15 eligible)

  • Reside within Zone 8 boundaries.

  • Be registered for the 2026 box lacrosse season with their home club.

  • Attend at least 1 scheduled tryout session.

Zone 8 will select both a U15 Coed team and a U15 Female team.

Coed tryouts

Monday April 13 - 730pm - 830pm

Wednesday April 22 - 730pm - 830pm

Female tryouts

Tuesday April 14 - 630pm - 730pm

Thursday April 23 - 630pm - 730pm

FluidPro Recreation Arena, Wembley

Cost:
$75.00 Tryout Fee

Registration opens March 15 via the GPLAX ramp.

Attendance Expectation:
Athletes are strongly encouraged to attend more than 1 scheduled tryout sessions whenever possible. If you cannot attend these dates please email: gplax_registrar@outlook.com to arrange alternative arrangements. 

Coaching Applications

The  Grande Prairie Lacrosse Association is currently accepting applications for the following positions:

  • Head Coach

  • Assistant Coach

  • Trainer / Chaperone

All applicants must meet Alberta Lacrosse Association requirements, including NCCP certification, Safe Sport training, and a current CRC/VSC.

Selection & Athlete Commitment

Selected athletes will be required to:

  • Attend all team practices and preparation sessions

  • Adhere to Team Alberta, GPLAX, and Safe Sport standards

  • Commit to participation in the 2026 Alberta Summer Games, hosted in Strathcona, July 16-19, 2026
